Early in June, my weekly evening ride with the guys finished in the hospital rather than the anticipated pub. This turn of events was caused by my bike taking a tumble as I descended a sketchy gravel road at a faster than prudent speed. I have no memory of the actual fall, but my broken clavicle and twisted hip attest to the violence of the impact. Fortunately, I was wearing my Lazer O2, which sacrificed itself to preserve my skull. My head escaped with just a fine bump behind my left ear. The attending physician repeatedly told anyone who would listen that I would have been treated to a helicopter ride if it hadn't been for the helmet. Thanks, Lazer, for sparing me a helicopter ride.
